New Online Gambling Regulations Likely for Gibraltar

July 4 - According to press reports, Gibraltar is set to radically revise its online gambling regulations. The proposed changes will be aimed at more efficient of large online gambling operators currently licensed on "The Rock"...

Gibraltar is home to some of the largest online gambling groups, such as Party Gaming, who owns Party Poker, and Cassava Enterprises who is behind 888.com and Pacific Poker.

Gibraltar is the country outside of the European Union that from where operators are allowed to market directly to the UK, in accordance with the recently changes UK gambling legislation.

The UK government is apparently keen for Gibraltar to update its regulations to be closer in line with their own act.

One such proposed change is that all Gibraltar licensees would have to apply for a UK remote gaming license.

This will force operators to comply with UK regulations related to  age verification, software testing and social responsibility.

It will also require certain disclosures from licensees.
