2006/07 Record: 10-6. 1st round playoff loss to the Pats.
2006/07 Verdict: The Jets record of 10-6 is a testament to intellect over physical talent. Led by a smart QB in Pennington and equally shrewd receivers who beat opponents despite being undersized the team took 8-8 stats and turned themselves into a playoff team. None of it would have been possible without a head coach who burst onto the scene in a big way - Eric Mangini has already been annointed as the Man-Genius, but is it all a bit premature?
2007/08 Mycapper.com Prediction: HOLD STEADY
The Jets were incredible betting value last season as Pennington stayed healthy and depsite not setting the world alight with his stats the one that matters is that New York finished 11-5 ATS. They were tremendous on the road going 6-2 ATS. But everyone is predicting a sophmore slump for Mangini and their season total wins Over/Under is only at 8! There is big value taking the OVER here as this is a better team than people realize, and no flash in the pan barring key injuries (the same caveat goes for most NFL teams of course). The Jets can repeat what they did last season and we're inclined to bet on them until empirical evidence suggests otherwise.
