NFC Conference Betting Odds

NFC BettingThe National Football Conference or NFC has existed since 1970 and features arguably the two most popular and storied American Football franchises, the Dallas Cowboys ("America's Team") and the Green Bay Packers. In terms of total NFL titles (including AFL, NFL, and Super Bowl wins) the three top teams are all from the NFC. The Packers have 13, the Chicago Bears have 9, and the New York Giants have 7. The Dallas Cowboys only have 5 wins, but have emerged as regular football betting favorites in the past few decades.

NFL betting includes the opportunity to wager on which team will win the NFC, and go on to represent the conference in the Super Bowl. NFC Conference odds are available at all online sportsbooks. In recent seasons (2004-2009) the NFC has failed to impress in the big game, losing 5 of the last 6 to AFC rivals. But in 2010 the New Orleans Saints changed that picture.

Between 1985 and 1997 the NFC representative won the Super Bowl 13 straight times, an amazing statistic that is unlikely to be repeated in the new age of National Football League parity, which makes NFL betting so exciting and tough to predict.

The winner of the NFC Championship game is awarded the George Halas Trophy, named after the iconic leader of the Chicago Bears who lived to be 88 and was nicknamed Papa Bear. The two teams currently suffering through the longest drought of not appearing in this Championship game are the Detroit Lions and the Washington Redskins, who ironically met one another in 1991 and then have not been back since. The Lions set an infamous record for NFL futility in the 2007/08 season when they somehow managed to go 0-16 and lose every single game they played in during the regular season. The won one game last year and are predicted to better that in 2011.
