The betting suggests a blowout mismatch of Super Bowl proportions (you may remember that the last two Super Bowls that the Dallas Cowboys came at the expense of the hapless Bills, who were routed both times in the midst of losing four straight Super Bowls):
Dallas opened as -10 point favorites. That is a huge spread to cover on the road - it's the oddsmakers way of saying that the Cowboys are basically in a different league to the Bills, who might well be 20-point dogs (almost unheard of in the NFL) if this game was in Dallas.
The Over/Under is also an implicit slap in the face for the Bills as the number opened very high at 44 points (high for a Bills home game where 30 combined points qualifies as a barnburner this season), and has since moved even higher to 45.5 points in Vegas!
So what are we to make of all this? It is a tricky game to handicap because home teams are generally tough to blowout, even though they may be a lot weaker on paper. The Bills will be fired up to "protect their house", and could play with enough emotioal intensity to keep it close...for the first quarter. After that it is Trent Edwards vs Tony Romo and TO, and Dallas has shown an ability to blow out everyone this season. They have scored 34 points or more in all four games. The Bills have scored a little more than 34 points in total this season (I think they're on 40 - look it up, it's certainly around there).
The Bills are also decimated by injuries to their defense and have no offense to speak of. Wade Phillips used to coach Buffalo and will make sure that his players no what to expect - hopefully ensuring that this isn't a trap game (the Cowboys have a huge game next week that will be on their mind for sure).
Our advice is to bet on the Cowboys to cover because it is hard to see Buffalo scoring more than 20 points and conceding less than 30 - do the math people! Cowboys win big and go to 5-0 tonight, probably in a game that will end up UNDER for total points.
