January 24 - The NFL Playoffs become a real numbers game for fans as they
debate a host of possibilities. Whilst the props usually reach their peak come
Super Bowl, the Championship games have a few very interesting prop bets open at
leading US facing sportsbook,
Bodog.com:
Peyton Manning total passing yards - will it be "over or under"’ 265.5?
Based on his playoff average, this is a pretty easy bet with Manning holding the records for most 300+
as well as 400+ passing games
in NFL playoff history. However, has has failed to make 265 yards in his last
five games. The Jets have the best pass defence in the league. This bet is hard
to call. The "under" is paying even money and looks the safe bet.
Most Interceptions - AFC Quarterbacks
Most people would just pick Sanchez - who was picked off a massive 20 times this year.
But hang on a sec. Manning threw 16 picks of his own this year. In the playoffs, Sanchez has as
only been picked twice and Manning once. Also remember that when they Colts won the Super Bowl
Manning had seven
picks and just three TDs. On top of that, the Colts don't have the best rushing
game so Manning can be expected to give it air. The over and under both pay -115
right now. We'd still back Sanchez though.
Will Adrian Peterson fumble?
Peterson hasn't had the best of years but still rushed over a thousand yards.
The "Yes" bet is at +170 which looks tempting, but he only fumbled five times
all year so we see no value here for the "Yes".
Totals receiving yards for Sidney Rice - "over/under" 77.5
With such good recent form, the
"over" is quite significantly favored here (-135 compared to +105 for the
"under"). However, he has been hot for three games in a row, and with the
defense focussed on him, the "under" looks like good value.
Jared Allen total sacks - over/under 0.5
The "under" is at +105 Allen had 14.5 sacks in the regular season, but only four in
his last eight games. He had no sacks last week and missed out in five games
this year. The Saints will be wide awake on the defense, so the "under" looks
good.
Who will score the first TD for the Jets?
The Jets are going to come out firing. With an offense built around their
rushing game, Thomas Jones
at 3/1, and Shonn Greene at 13/4 look like good value.
