The oddsmakers have installed Dallas as 7-point favorites fully expecting them to avenge their early season mauling in Philly. The Eagles will own the tiebreaker in the division if they win this game straight up so there is plenty to play for, even though it looks likely that both teams will make the playoffs regardless of what happens here (the Cowboys already have a playoff berth).
The total points number for this game is very high at 48 points, up slightly from the opening call of 47.5 points. The first meeting produced 62 combined points so sports bettors clearly expect another shootout this evening.
The most interesting storyline is the Jeff Garcia / Terrell Owens clash. Owens famously called Garcia a homosexual during their days together in San Francisco. It seems more like a case of the pot calling the kettle black to us, if you know what we mean, but it should still motivate Garcia to play at a high level today. Owens was in the news recently (what a surprise) for spitting in the face of an opponent.
Whatever you think of his ability as a wide receiver it is evident that TO is a classless act, a shameless attention-seeker with more personality problems than that other NFL great, OJ.
The Eagles have performed very well in the past few weeks with Garcia at the helm, but this is their toughest test and it would be surprising to see them win this game. Whether or not you think the Cowboys are value at -7 points, however, is a different question entirely.
