NFL Power Rankings For Betting On Football - 09-21-06

September 21 - The latest NFL Power Rankings have been released by Mycapper.com, one of the leading online sports handicapping services. The rankings rate the five best and worst NFL teams against the spread (ATS) based on Week 2 results.

Top 5 NFL Power Rankings Against The Spread - Week 2

1. Jaguars: Last week we wrote the following about this team, "Talented and very underrated equals good betting value", and then we made them a monster top pick to cover at home against the Steelers. We love it when we're right - this is a team that should never receive points at home. They face a very tough road game this week, however, at the Colts.

2. Bills: Either the Dolphins are the most overrated team of the year or the Bills aren't as bad as everyone thought they would be. It's probably a little of both. The Bills played two tough road games and covered both with ease at the Pats and now at the Dolphins. Expect them to play very well this weekend at home against the Jets.

3. Bears: This is a team to fear and ATS they have breezed by their opponents. They look like the class of the NFC at this early juncture, and face a tough test at the Vikings this Sunday. It should give us a good idea of their true strength.

4. Bengals: Have done everything asked of them to date, and this is clearly a potent offense that will put up points against most NFL teams. Let's see how they fare in a crunch game this Sunday at the Steelers, but don't be surprised if they win there straight up based on their early form.

5. Colts: Money in the bank so far with a rout of the Texans in Week 2 action following a solid win over the Giants in Week 1. They have to spot the Jags a TD this Sunday, and from an ATS perspective this is the toughest game to handicap on the entire card. Our feeling is that the Jaguars could be value for the cover even if they do go down in a narrow SU loss, but time will tell.

Bottom 5 NFL Power Rankings Against The Spread - Week 2

1. Packers: There's no reason to move them from the top spot of worthlessness just yet. They were beaten at home by a Saints team that is terrible defensively, and clearly Green Bay have a ton of issues to deal with before they are ready to win a game, let alone cover a spread.

2. Raiders: It looks like this team has thrown in the towel for the season, and we're only heading in to Week 3. Thankfully the losing will stop this Sunday because they have a bye. They are awful, but maybe Jeff George is the answer - that's a joke by the way, and a funny one at that.

3. Titans: This is the worst SU team in the league but they will keep trying and eventually they should be able to cover ATS. They get a lot of points for their visit to the Dolphins, who have been dire so far this season (see below), but double-digit headstarts might not be enough for this team.

4. Dolphins: Miami are fortunate that there are so many bad teams for us to choose from otherwise they could easily be at the top of this list. Losing at home to the Bills was shocking, and they need a big win over the Titans otherwise they will be the worst ATS team in the land.

5. Redskins: They hold on to their top 5 ranking thanks to another display of mediocrity, as we predicted, at the Cowboys. Honorable mention though to the Panthers and the Bucs (who play each other in a critical clash with the loser dropping to 0-3 and a ruined season). We didn't even get to mention the Texans who also have one last shot at redemption this Sunday when they host the Redskins. Wooden spoon games abound!
