January 29 - Empire Online reported 'satisfactory' results in its
trading update for December 2005. The owners of Club Dice online casino and
Noble Poker announced total net gaming revenues of US$22.5m. The results come in
the light of an ongoing dispute with Party Gaming....
Revenue was split almost evenly between online poker at US$11.3m online
casino at US$11.2m.
The company still felt bullish that it would achieve its profit forecast of
US$37m for 2006, even without Empire Poker, as it has been experiencing strong
growth on its other platforms.
Empire Online and Party Gaming are currently locked in a dispute over Party
Gaming's decision to effectively cut their "skins" off from their new platform.
Many fear that Empire Online will never really be able to recover from this, but
an Empire Online spokes person said 'These results prove our marketing skills as
a company, and that we have a solid and fast growing business, regardless of how
the results of Empire Poker will turn out".
New real money players across all platforms excluding Empire Poker were
32,419 for Q4 2005, an increase of 23% on the Q3.
