April 26 - Top online casino, GoldenPalace.com recently paid $650 000 for a good
cause - the right to name a new species of monkey.
The casino won the top bid at a recent auction held by www.charityfolks.com for
the right to rename the new species. The monkeys were discovered in western
Bolivia's Madidi National Park, by Wildlife Conservation Society Scientist, Dr
Robert Wallace.
Most scientists dream of discovering and subsequently naming new species to
ensure they achieve a degree of 'immortality' in the annals of science. However,
Dr Wallace selflessly recognized the need to raise awareness and funds for the
plight of Bolivia, South America's most poverty stricken nation.
The auction attracted global interest beyond expectation and drew bids from over
12 countries. Goldenpalace.com's impressive bid is earmarked for FUNDESNAP, the
Bolivian Madidi National Park management organization, to help protect and
maintain the monkey's natural habitat.
A GoldenPalace.com spokesperson announced that people can refer to the new
species by its new common name of 'GoldenPalace.com Monkey' or by the Latin
name, 'Callicebus Aureipalatii'.
Said GoldenPalace.com CEO, Richard Rowe, 'We are extremely happy to have been
able to contribute to such a worthy cause and are confident that the
GoldenPalace.com Monkey will live and thrive to carry our name forward well into
the future.'
