Online Gambling News - The Week In Review - 11-24-07

November 24 - As usual, the last week saw a lot of movement in the global online gambling world. Bodog announced a new music deal, William Hill improved its fraud detection and Victor Chandler launched pub poker.

First off Betfair made a major move to solidify its position in the European online poker market with the appointment if  Bruce Stubbs as its director of poker. Bruce was the marketing director at Paradise Poker in the days when it was one of the big 3 in the market. He has been working with Betfair on the European chapter of the World Series of Poker.

All the way on the other side of the world, Bodog seems to be throwing more efforts into its media and entertainment business. Bodog TV will provide its programming to Joost, the world's first broadcast-quality Internet television service, which will increase Bodog TV's exposure.

Another British owned gambling company, William Hill is investing more in fraud management technology through joining Ethoca's anti-fraud network alongside other big names like   888.com, and Stan James.

Victor Chandler, another big UK bookie has announced a deal with Admiral Taverns, the UK's largest independent leased pub company, to launch a pub poker network. More 2500 pubs in the Admiral group will promote poker to their existing customers through its own poker website operated by Victor Chandler.

FullTilt Solutions, a Pennsylvania-based IT service provider, and not the poker site of the same name has announced that it will sell its domain name die to the excessive traffic its gets from people looking for the poker site. Full Tilt Poker will no doubt make a bid buy the URL.

Finally, online competitive intelligence group Hitwise has ranked Virgin Games as the fifth most popular gambling website in the UK for the period between July 2007 and September 2007.
