November 7 - The first mega merger in the online gambling industry has become
a reality. The last month has seen a number of deals take place, but the
imminent announcement of a merger between online poker giants Ultimate Bet and
Absolute Poker will be the biggest yet...
The merger between these two giants of online poker has been rumored for
weeks now and makes a lot of sense as it will allow them to consolidate their
traffic into a formidable entity, following the signing into law of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement
Act (UIGEA).
Absolute and Ultimate Bet are both mainly focused on the US market, and
continue to accept US players. There are not details available yet as to how the
partnership will be structured. Industr7y observers seems to think that
the new entity will focus on consolidating its US position rather than looking
at global expansion.
Whatever happens, we can be sure that a big deal is imminent.
