May 7 - Bodog online poker room has announced that it will qualify 40 player
per weekend for the 2006 World Series of Poker main event. A total of 700
players will get the opportunity to compete for the estimated $10 million prize
pool, courtesy of Bodog.com...
"We have had a spectacular reaction from our players and the poker
industry," says Calvin Ayre, CEO of Bodog.com. "Our aim is to ensure
that our players are given every opportunity to qualify for the opportunity to
compete against the world's best poker players. With 40 players qualifying
each weekend, we are well on our way towards achieving this."
There are 30 tournaments
run at Bodog Poker on Saturdays, or 10 on Sundays. Buy-ins range from $67.50
to $270. Players can enter into Bodog.com's WSOP Stages
tournaments for as little as $1.10. Stage winners move onto the next stage up to Stage 5
where a WSOP seat can be won.
The 700 qualifiers will each receive a
prize package that includes a $10,000 tournament buy-in, $2,500 in travel
expenses, access to the WSOP VIP Lounge and $1,000 worth of Bodog gear.
With aggressive tournament schedules and an array of bonus programs,
