August 5 - PokerStars.com, one of the largest global online poker rooms has
received accreditation from British charity organization, Gamcare.

GamCare performs research and provides advice and assistance in addressing
the social impacts of gambling. The accreditation indicates Gamcare's
acknowledgement that PokerStars had complies to standards for protecting players
and recognizes their roles in making sure that their players are gambling
responsibly.
PokerStars reports that in order to achieve the standards it had to make
certain software change, including an age verification system, a feature for
players to perform self exclusion, and new ways to limit player deposits. These
changes ensure that Pokerstars.com adhere to Gamcare's Code of Practice.
The Pokerstars website will now also display information about problems
gambling and recommend what players can do to avoid problems gambling, as well
as information on where to seek help. GamCare will also provide training to
PokerStars customer service reps.
