January 21 - John O'Malia, who joined online gambling giant, Party Gaming after a successful merger with Gamebookers, has announced that it is his intention to leave the company to pursue alternative business options.

Malia became Managing Director of Party Gaming after the company joined with the online sports betting firm, Gamebookers - a company where Malia had served as Chief Executive Officer until its merger with Party Gaming in August 2006.

John Malia soon became a valuable part of Party Gaming's managerial team and joined the company's Board of Executives last year. He eventually became Managing Director in May.

Party Gaming said that Malia's task would be taken over by the company's current Chief Executive Officer, Jim Ryan.

"Over the past two and a half years, John has made a significant contribution to the transformation and leadership of the group," said Ryan, speaking on Monday about Malia's imminent departure. "In particular, his vision and dedication were fundamental to the successful launch of the next generation of our signature PartyPoker.com product in September 2008."

Malia also commented on his resignation which comes into effect at the end of next month. "My time at Party Gaming has been extraordinary," he said. "We have made numerous strides in repositioning the group's gaming portfolio, something that I was determined to achieve before moving on. I am enormously proud of the progress we have made and the fact that many of the group's games are now once again recognized as being best in class."

"Whilst I shall certainly miss the excitement of working for the world's leading listed online gaming company, I am looking forward to taking on fresh business challenges," said O'Malia.

Party Gaming's flagship online gambling websites are PartyCasino.com and Party Poker.
