2006/07 Verdict: There are good 8-8 teams but this wasn't one of them. They had a cupcake schedule and performed dismally at times (a loss to the Raiders being the low point). Their differential numbers were very poor and it appears that Coach Cowher abandoned ship at exactly the right time.
2007/08 Mycapper.com Prediction: DOWN
The key to this team is Ben Roethlisberger, who will either have to step up and become a top-tier quarterback, or finally own up to the fact that he is a younger version of Trent Dilfer, who by the way also won a Super Bowl without really being very good. By now you can see where we're leaning on this one. The Steelers have to play the AFC East (at least 2 losses there) and the NFC West (2 more losses there) besides dealing with fierce division rivals (pencil in at least 4 losses in those games), and they also have to play the Broncos in Denver (another loss). We see them going 7-9 at best and possibly even worse. A good futures bet would be to take the UNDER for total wins.
