RTG Basic Blackjack Review

RTG Basic Blackjack is played with 8 standard decks of 52 cards. The cards are shuffled after each hand is completed. The dealer is forced to stand on soft 17, and blackjack beats any hand value of 21.

RTG Basic Blackjack

RTG Classic or Basic Blackjack

Standard RTG 4 deck strategy applies to RTG Basic Blackjack. An Autoplay option can be selected, allowing the player to configure the number of games to play automatically, and the win conditions under which to stop. Full game play history is logged, and the history is available for viewing at any time.

RTG Basic Blackjack Rules

Late Surrender

Playing RTG Basic Blackjack allows players the option of a "Late Surrender" - that is to give up half your original bet amount in return for not playing out a hand. You get the other half of your bet back.

Splitting Rules

  • You can split any pair
  • If you Split a pair of Aces and then you hit and draw a card with a 10 value, this is not considered to be a Blackjack, even though it totals 21
  • You can split a maximum of twice, which makes 3 hands
  • You cannot re-split Aces
  • If you Split a hand of Aces, each resulting hand can receive one more card, and then the hand must Stand

Double Down Rules

  • You can Double Down on any first two cards. The Doubling bet is equal to your original bet
  • You can Double Down after you have decided to Split
  • You cannot Double Down on a Blackjack

Insurance Rules

Insurance is not applicable to the second hands resulting from Splitting, or to a Double Down bet. The Insurance bet pays out at odds of 2:1 If the Dealer actually is not holding a Blackjack, the Insurance bet amount is forfeited by the player.
