February 15 - Online Gambling operator Nine.com, in the gambling and
entertainment business for eight years now, reported record activity on its
online gambling website this past Sunday...
"We normally see a lot of activity during the Pro Bowl, which too place last Sunday,
and expected to see increased activity in line with normal seasonal patters,
But the activity last Sunday far exceeded our projections and we saw a
particularly big spike around the New York City and the New England areas. This
was at our casino and poker room
before, during and after the game. We knew that these areas were experiencing
one of the worst snowstorms in history, which explains things, Last December's
ice storm in New York and resulted in the same levels of activity," said Robert
Evans from Nine.com.
"It is obvious that when it snows in New York, New Jersey and New England,
people trapped in by the snow are look for something to entertain themselves
with indoors. Watching TV gets boring quickly, and some people can't sit and do
it for hours, bit others can't." He adds, "In this dreary weather we
bring Vegas into the living room, offering our players the thrill of poker,
casino games and sports betting. It's not the sunshine in Vegas, but at least we
entertain them. Weather is
not normally something to joke about but we are hoping for more snow!," says Evans.
