2006/07 Record: 14-2. Playoff loss to the Pats.
2006/07 Verdict: The Chargers had a great record but were really an 11-5 quality team with a 14-2 record thanks to an incredibly soft schedule. They played the NFC West as well as Cleveland, Buffalo, and Tennessee, but the big advantage was their own feeble division. Still, they should have won their playoff game against New England, but one of the unluckiest defeats in recent memory ended their season and led to the departure of the head coach. Marty-ball didn't gel with management and they have now hired a yes-man in Norv Turner to replace him and listen to them.
2007/08 Mycapper.com Prediction: DOWN
The Chargers have the best football player on the planet and that alone should ensure another successful season in terms of SU wins. The schedule promises to be soft again, so that even though Norv Turner is no world-beater this team looks capable of an 11-5 season. Will this translate into ATS betting value? San Diego is a blowout team against weak opposition so there will be many spots to back them, but the team has many questions when it comes to mental toughness and the jury is out on their ability to beat the best in the NFL. We'll still be fading them against the spread in the playoffs, but we do expect to see them there.
