Amidst all of the NFL Week 7 games scheduled for Sunday, one game
that could prove to be interesting is the matchup between the
Seattle Seahawks and the Cleveland Browns, if only because both have
started off the season with 2-3 records, and will be eager to tip
the scale towards a winning season.
According to the oddsmakers at popular online sports betting site
Bodog, host team the Browns will start as the -3 point favorites
(O/U 40.5) in the Seahawks Browns betting odds.
It may be true to say that both the Cleveland Browns and the Seattle
Seahawks should have started off the 2011-12 NFL Regular season on a
better foot, but then you could argue that they're in much better
shape right now than struggling teams like the Indianapolis Colts
(0-6), the Miami Dolphins (0-5), the St Louis Rams (0-5) and many
others.
Seattle Seahawks Won Their First Home Game
Looking at the team from the Pacific Northwest, the Seahawks kicked
off the season with back-to-back road losses against the 49ers and
Steelers respectively. To their credit, Seattle refused to rollover
in their first home game and proceeded to beat the Cardinals 33-17.
However, that winning feeling didn't last very long as they lost
their next game at home to the Falcons.
And just when it looked like the Seahawks were heading towards a
world of hurt this season, they traveled to face the New York
Giants, where they pulled off a 35-25 upset victory. So locked and
loaded with confidence after that win, and following a much-needed
bye-week rest, the Seahawks should be formidable opponents on
Sunday, despite their underdog status.
Cleveland Browns Need A Confidence Boost
Despite returning from their bye-week last Sunday to face the
Oakland Raiders, the Browns were no match for the Raiders and went
down 24-17, which means they'll no doubt be lacking the confidence
of their Sunday rivals, despite having the home ground advantage and
being laid as the slight betting favorites, as per the Seahawks
Browns spread.
It will not be lost on NFL betting fans that the two wins Cleveland
chalked up so far this season were against two of the teams
mentioned above (the Colts and the Dolphins respectively). Plus,
prior to last weekend's loss, the Browns went down to the Tennessee
Titans by a whopping 31-13 at home, so if they want to turn the
season around, they may need to muster every last bit of strength
they have to beat the Seahawks this weekend.
Seahawks Browns Prediction
Given how the Browns have played of late, we predict that a 'fired
up' Seahawks will come to Cleveland with a better than average
chance of making it 3-3. That said, in their last meeting in
November 2007 in Cleveland, the Browns successfully fended off the
Seahawks by a close 33-30. But then they were a far superior team at
that time.
