Sic Bo is a dice table game but its popularity pales in comparison to that other casino dice game, Craps. Nevertheless, Sic Bo offers the potential of a huge score and it is also a lot of fun to play. It is a table game played with three dice to determine the outcome of the game. If anything, the Sic Bo board resembles that of the roulette table, with a wide variety of betting options.
The bottom row of the Sic Bo table is divided into six betting areas, and these are referred to as single number bets. In this row you can place wagers on which numbers will show up after the dice are rolled. If the number you bet on shows on any one of the three die, you win and get paid 1:1 odds. If the number appears twice, you'll get paid 2:1 odds, and if your number appears on all three die, according to your bets, you'll get paid 3:1. For example, if you bet on the number three, and two of the dice show a three, you'll get double your stake back.
Because two number combinations are harder to get, they offer higher returns, namely 6:1 against. A two number combination bet entails placing a wager on any two dice combinations. For example, if you bet on a one and a five, and the rolled dice show one, three, and five, you'd win six times your wager.
It's only possible to win 6:1 for this bet, however, so if the dice show one, five, and five after the roll you'd still get paid the same amount as you would if the roll was 1,5,x.
In the three number total, you place your bet on the combined total of the dice roll. Different points totals offer different odds, but a result of three or eighteen (triple one or triple six) is an automatic loss for the player.
Four or Seventeen returns 50:1 odds
Five or Sixteen returns 25:1 odds
Six or Fifteen returns 15:1 odds
Seven or Fourteen returns 10:1 odds
Eight or Thirteen returns 6:1 odds
Nine or Twelve returns 5:1 odds
Ten or Eleven returns 5:1 odds
Small or Big Wager:
Here you are also betting on the combined total of the roll, but now you simply have to choose whether it will be either between Four and Ten (small wager) or between Eleven
and Seventeen (big wager). The odds here are always 1:1. If the result of the dice roll is any three of a kind - that is to say if all 3 die show the same number then both of the wagers lose regardless.
Triple Bets:
This is where the player wins if there is a three-of a kind but loses if the dice come up anything else. You bet on those abovementioned triplets, which offer the highest odds in the game - up to 150:1 depending on the casino's house rules. Betting on a specific three of a kind will offer you the highest odds. You can also bet on 'any triplet' - all six possible three of a kind combinations are covered with this wager.
You can also bet on a pair, which is, obviously, two of the three dice showing the same number. The odds are as follows:
Triplet Bets returns 120-150:1 odds Any Triplet offers 25:1 odds Pair Bets returns 11:1 odds
