June 10 - Will Tony Soprano live or die? The Sopranos ends tonight and millions of viewers will learn the answer but for those who think they know the answer there is Sopranos betting at Bodog.com with odds on the chances of survival for various characters.

You're not going to get rich off this particular market with the bet size capped at a max wager of $50, presumably to stop some snotty HBO intern from making off with a chunk of Calvin's loot, but you will have a lot of fun.
A lot of people bet on an event to add a little excitement and intensity when they sit down to watch, although if the Sopranos finale is anything like the penultimate episode that could result in an overdose of adrenalin. Last week's fare, "The Blue Comet", was so intense that many viewers had to splash their faces with a little cold water once it was done to restore regular breathing patterns (okay, I had to).
The Sopranos is not only the greatest achievement in the history of television but a great piece of art (taken as a collective whole), easily the equivalent of Dickens' best work or any other sprawling novel worshipped in academia.
But unlike a book by James Joyce you can a) bet on what will happen to the characters later tonight and b)you're still there at the end because you care about what will happen.
So, to the betting - the money has come for Tony Soprano to survive the final episode of the Sopranos, this despite many pundits voicing a contrary opinion. It sure looks like the smart money knows the result here with Tony surviving -400 and Tony dying +250. That's pretty much the same price the Spurs were to win the NBA Finals before those got underway, so he's a lock to live...one would think.
Odds are that Phil Leotardo will die. Bodog makes his odds of departing -500, to which one can only breathe a huge sigh of relief. You'd better be right Bodog, that's all I'm gonna say.
Paulie Walnuts (what a name; what a show) is also looking like a survivor with his odds -300. Silvio's chances of waking up, however, don't look nearly as good. He's a big dog at +150, which is saddening me deeply.
As Carmine Jr might put it, tonight's episode promises to be an emotional stagmire, and if there are no new posts on this website tomorrow it's only because the editors and writers are in mourning (one way or another) for the passing of a truly great show.
