June 30 - This week, online poker history was made at the Microgaming online poker network. We are all used to seeing massive pots contested on television and winners walking away with millions. Now, the biggest online poker game ever played at one stage saw over $800,000 on the table...

Two players faced off in this historical game played on the Microgaming Poker Network. The biggest pot in history was contested for a massive $465,461. This is over $100,000 more than the previous record of $357,256. At one stage, the two players had over $800,000 at the table between them. The game took place over an 8 hour period.

Each player started off with $80,000, and neither of them appeared willing to back down. During the eight hour marathon, there were a total of  20 re-buys at $40,000 each, which brought the total money at the table to just short of  $1 million. Over 700 people watched the table and the chat box was burning up with encouragement.

The CEO of Microgaming, Roger Raatgever, said: "This was a huge milestone for online poker, not just in terms of the stakes, but also because of the huge spectator participation, and proves the massive interested there is in poker. We are very pleased that the game took place on our network, and one can be sure that it will not be long before the record is eclipsed, considering the growth of poker."
