The Most Tasteless Online Casino Promotion Ever - 09-18-07

September 18 - Costa Rican Virtual Group, an RTG powered online casino group, has made the headlines for all the wring reasons, when they launched a promotion on the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the USA, where thousands of innocent victims died.

The group's "spokes person", one "Danny Virtual" sent an email about the tragedy but it was nothing but a trap to invite players to claim a cynical bonus, called the "911% Twin Towering Total Bonus."

Stop. Take a minute to think about this. These people are trying to use 9/11 for their own gain. That's sick and we don't know how you could possible stoop lower.

Players and businesses in this industry have been unanimous in condemning this garbage. To try and exploit a human tragedy of this scale has left people speechless. Some players have reacted in a very upset way, reminding the casino group that 9/11 is a day reserved for mourning and reflection and praying for those who lost their lives and their families.

When contacted, Real Time Gaming said "they would look into it". Well, they are obviously still "looking" as there has been no further release from them.

In a release from the Virtual Group, they company seems determined to dig an even bigger hole for themselves, when "Danny Virtual" claimed that it was their way to remind people of the tragedy.

Danny my fiend, we do not need reminding.

He wrote: "Every year, amongst other important subjects dear to my heart, I bring attention to 911" and "911 is dear to my heart and this is the only way I can shed light on it." His rationalization for an incredibly offensive promotion only added fuel to the fire as criticism continued.

Our take? Don't play at their casinos. End of story.
