Tiger Woods Turns Down Paddy Power Sponsorship - 03-09-10

March 9 - After the story broke a few months ago that world number one golfer Tiger Woods 'cannot keep his clubs in his bag', so to speak, and is secretly a serial womanizer who could have given Rudolph Valentino himself a run for his money, most of Wood's multi-billion sponsors dropped him like a hot potato.

And while the world media and general public have spent millions of yawn-laden hours discussing and analyzing the golfer's mistakes, loss of income due to loss of sponsorships, his way back etc, one of the world's best online gambling operations recently offered Tiger Woods a $75 million sponsorship deal.

However, according to reports, he turned down the generous offer effectively ending speculation that the beleaguered golfer is worried about money. It's no secret that the vast majority of Woods' billion dollar empire has come from lucrative sponsorships as opposed to tournament appearance fees and winnings.

Although the interest alone from the golfer's accumulated wealth could feed a third world country, his accountants will have less to do this year due to the absence of many of his endorsements and sponsorships, which include shaving giant Gillette, soft drink firm Gatorade and business consulting group, Accenture.

Wouldn't it have been great to see Woods sporting the Paddy Power logo on his shirts? As per media reports, executives at the Ireland-based online gambling firm offered Woods a generous $75 million contract over 5 years, and explained that they thought the sponsorship would be symbiotic for both parties.

Woods' representatives have stated that he is not interested in taking on any new sponsors at this time. So perhaps that bodes well for Paddy Power, meaning that when the golfer is eventually interested in taking on new sponsors, he might drop the renowned online sports betting website a line and make a deal.

In the meantime, Woods' has his hands full trying to convince the world that he is still a family man and that he is seeking help for his sex addiction. Before his secret shame became public, Tiger reportedly had affairs with up to twelve women, many of them based all over the United States in his favourite cities.
