September 27 - As Week 4 of the 2011-12 NFL regular season prepares to get
underway this weekend, NFL betting fans are picking the best games to wager on,
and although Sunday's Tennessee Titans vs Cleveland Browns matchup may be
tighter than many fans would like (The Browns are the -1 point favorites
), it should be a nail-biter. The Titans (1-2 ATS) will travel to face the Browns (2-1 ATS) at Cleveland
Browns Stadium for a 1pm ET kick off, where although Cleveland will benefit from
their home ground advantage, Tennessee boasts a quarterback with more experience
than his counterpart, as well as a defensive unit poised to turn up the heat
against the Browns.
The Tennessee Titans
To say that Titans' QB Matt Hasselbeck has kicked off the season on the right
foot is an understatement, as demonstrated when he threw the game-winning pass
to TE Daniel Graham in the final minutes of last Sunday's matchup against the
Denver Broncos, to see his team win 17-14. In that game Hasselbeck went 27-of-36
for 311 yards and two scores, while WR Nate Washington also showcased his skills
by notching up eight catches for 92 yards along with a touchdown. So if these guys can keep up this level of play against the Browns on Sunday,
the Titans' offensive should be in good, or should that read 'good enough,'
shape. But when it comes to Tennessee's smoking hot defense, Cleveland will
really have to stay on their toes. Consider how the Titans' defense kept Denver
to a total of just 231 yards on Sunday, including 59 ground yards. Expect more
of the same on Sunday.
The Cleveland Browns
Just as the Titans pulled off a late win last Sunday, so did the Browns against
the Miami Dolphins, thanks to WR Mohamed Massaquoi who caught a 14-yarder from
QB Colt McCoy to propel the team to a 17-16 win at home. However, unlike the
Titans' QB who was consistently good, McCoy was pretty average, going just
19-of-39 for 210 yards, with two touchdowns and a pick. That said, he did what
he had to do to win, and in football it's all about winning games. With talented RB Peyton Hillis on the bench due to illness, Montario Hardesty
stepped in to pick up the slack and he did a pretty good job too, chalking up 14
carries for 67 yards. Like the Titans, the Browns' real strength lies in their
defensive lineup as their offense is unlikely to see all that much possession.
So, if Cleveland's defense can stand up on Sunday, they may a shot at victory.
Our Prediction: Titans vs Browns Betting
Sunday's matchup between the Tennessee Titans and the Cleveland Browns will more
than likely come down to a battle of the 'defenses' as neither team will want
the various vulnerabilities in their respective offenses to be exploited. But
with regards to the quarterbacks, the Titans' Hasselbeck will surely have an
edge over the Browns' McCoy. As such, we see the Titans victorious on Sunday.
