Top 5 NFL Power Rankings Against The Spread - Week 1
1. Steelers: Made a mockery of the spread on Thursday, winning handily at home. Batch at QB made them the value play of the week as the points spread dropped dramatically - no one told the Steelers it was a pick'em game.
2. Ravens: Looked great in a tough game on the road, and destroyed the line on that game. They could be excellent betting value, and NFL oddsmakers and handicappers are taking note.
3. Bears: They will be very tough to beat this season with the best defense in the league, and ATS they offer good value because when they do lose as dogs it will be close.
4. Jaguars: Talented and very underrated equals good betting value. It showed in Week 1 and the lack of respect they get from the media should ensure it continues.
5. Colts: That was a solid start to the season but we would still be cautious of laying big points spreads with this team. Week 2 will give us a better idea of their ability to put up huge numbers.
Bottom 5 NFL Power Rankings Against The Spread - Week 1
Teams that are very weak offer as much, if not more, betting value to the good NFL handicapper, because we can simply bet their opponents to cover against them. Here are the 5 worst ATS teams from Week 1...
1. Packers: No team looked worse, and with Favre leading the way the lines will still be incredibly overvalued on this team - case in point was in Week 1 where the Bears were only favored by 3 points against this collection of clowns!
2. Raiders: The team is already showing signs of falling apart and it's only the end of Week 1! Poor coaches and a lack of harmony will ensure that this team offers good value if you're betting against them. They were horrible on Monday Night.
3. Patriots: Remember this is an ATS Power Rankings Poll. The Pats were poor at home against a bad Bills team. They will fail to cover a lot of games if they play at this level in coming weeks. Let's see how they fare against another mediocre team in the Jets.
4. Titans: It's going to be a long season for their fans, but we could make a lot of money going against them if they continue to play to this standard.
5. Redskins: They've been overrated since Gibbs came back and they will suffer this season as the weakest team in a loaded NFC East. Look for very few covers from this team.
