March 8 - You don't have to be a rocket surgeon to figure out that the team
positions in the English Premier League standings are directly
proportional to the form of the teams during the season, which is why there were
no real surprises over the weekend as the top teams dominated the lesser teams.

For instance, on Saturday Arsenal - who are currently lying joint second with
Chelsea in the Premier League with 61 points - faced Burnley - who are
currently nineteenth in the League with 23 points and face relegation - and as
expected dispatched them by a convincing 3-1 by the full time whistle.
Although fans of both teams were probably not surprised by the outcome, no doubt
they were by the way the Gunners' 20-year-old winger, Theo Walcott, played, who
emerged as the star of the game. No doubt being described by England wing Chris
Waddle as 'lacking a football brain' last week hit home.
So the youngster, eager to prove Waddle wrong, did just that in the second half.
After a no doubt frowny and accent-laden speech from Arsenal manager Arsene
Wenger during half time, back on the field Walcott set up many goal
opportunities for his teammates, before scoring one himself - left footed.
Take that Waddle you wally. Taking a look at Everton's convincing 5-1 drubbing
over Hull City. Yet again the league standings dictated the outcome of the match
as Everton - eighth in the Premier League with 41 points - easily dispatched
Hull - eighteenth in the league and facing near-certain relegation.
In lieu of listing the few highlights the match may have yielded, here instead
is a quote from Everton manager, David Moyes, which aptly demonstrates his level
of concern over Hull City as a threat against Everton. 'We played some really
good football. And to score six against them was it six, or five?'
Yes indeed David. But next time don't forget your Ritalin. And then there was
Manchester United's match against the Wolves. This is a game where Man U - who
are leading the Premier League with 63 points - should have thumped the
seventeenth best team in the league, but only managed a 1-0 win.
Needless to say Manchester manager Sir Alex Ferguson did his best to chew
through 25 sticks of chewing gum as a pumped-up Wolves team threatened to
equalise and even take down the mighty Red Devils. Still, Manchester United are
two points clear in the League and will fight to keep it that way.
