June 4 - In the latest World Cup news Iran's team each received special ceremonial carpets as their reward for getting to the Finals in Germany. In other news Brazil's team were each presented with European supermodels and the Italians were handed bags of money with the words "half now and half after you're eliminated".
Clutching his carpet, one Iranian player said: "This is much better than last time when we did not qualify for World Cup and gift was ceremonial amputation of feet." (sic)
The dazzling carpets feature the flags of all four nations in Iran's group, which could be classified as the "Group Of Oil": There is Angola (oil-rich), Iran (filthy oil-rich), Portugal (hair is extremely oily), and Mexico (exports oil rig workers to Texas).
Another Iranian was heard to mumble: "Great, just what I've always wanted, a carpet with Angola's flag sewn into it."
