July 15 - This weekend is 'last chance saloon' for World Series of
Poker Main Event hopefuls, with numerous qualifying tournaments being offered at
online poker rooms. Here is the pick of the bunch for us desperate souls who are still battling to make
it to Vegas...
This is going to be a long weekend for some of us, well me anyway. With full
permission from the powers that be (i.e. my spouse), I will be making my last
gasp effort to win a package to the WSOP Main Event. This means many hours to
be spent playing poker, with copious amount of caffeine on tap. There are a
number of poker rooms that have thrown in some extra seats:
Poker.com
has a WSOP free roll for new players this Saturday, July 15. Make your first
deposit with Poker.com and use coupon code WSOPFREEROLL to receive entry to the
World Series of Poker Free roll plus earn a 100% bonus on deposits up to $100.
The package is valued at $12,500.
Sunpoker.com
is running "WSOP Madness" this weekend, with 30 Main Event seats valued at
$14,000 each up for grabs. The buy-in is $140+14 to 6 tournaments scheduled for July
15 and 16. Check the website for times. There are numerous $20 MTT qualifiers
running where you can win a seat to one of the six satellites.
Absolute Poker is staging a final Main Event satellite on Sunday at 20:30
EST. The buy-in is $100+ $8, and there are still various qualifiers open to get
into the final satellite (for example, there are $12 MTT's and three levels of
Sit&Go's starting at $2,50 buy-in). As a direct buy-in, this is the cheapest
tournament on offer this weekend, so I'll definitely be playing this one (unless
I have already qualified of course!). One $11,000 package will be awarded for
every 110 players in the satellite (Note: the tournament is not clearly
advertised on the website, so we suggest you download Absolute Poker to get all
the details).
Party
Poker still have a host of WSOP options available. If you wish to bypass the
throng, you can head straight into a 'gateway qualifier'. These are 11 and 22
seat tournaments with pretty hefty buy-ins of $1000+$35 and $500+$35
respectively. There are $20 satellites available for the $500 tournament.
If you wish to take the long route at
Party Poker, there are daily $200+$15 sattelites, with a direct buy-in or a
series of smaller qualifiers to get you to the main satellite, starting at $6
MTT's running all the time (warning - these are a total frenzy as they are
re-buy tournaments. This is like playing poker against 9 other people on some
crazy amphetamine cocktail). The $27 and $33 Sit&Go qualifiers in my view give
you a batter chance to win a $215 seat (I went out in the bubble on one but will
have a go at another couple).
And now for the craziest qualifier this weekend. If you really feel lucky,
PokerStars are giving away 150
seats on Sunday (each valued at $12,000). That's right, 150 seats in a
single tournament. Get yourself read for an all-in frenzy of note. At the time
of writing, over 2500 players have already entered, and the qualifiers were jam
packed. Buy-in is a pretty stiff $370.
Good luck and, who knows, maybe we'll see one another at the Main Event!t!
