Yahoo Offers Online Gambling With Their UK Poker Room - 04-29-07

April 29 - There is little doubt that online gambling is about to become the next great revenue spinner for established Internet companies, and the launch of Yahoo's online poker room for UK and Europe members emphasises this. They join Virgin Poker on the Boss Media online poker network.

This is a huge boost for the online gambling industry as a whole, and it is a sign of future things to come in this space. Media giants with huge membership bases like Yahoo could earn billions of dollars by offering online gambling to their vast communities, and one feels that the transition would actually be easier for a company like Yahoo than for the big bricks & mortar casino groups.

It was newsworthy when an established global brand such as Virgin opened their online poker room, choosing Boss Media software as their platform, but Yahoo UK is arguably an even more impressive partner for the Swedish based poker software provider.

USA residents obviously cannot join up with Yahoo's poker room, but with the announcement of Barney Frank's new bill that champions the cause of online gambling regulation of the industry in the United States now appears more realistic than ever before. The process itself may still take a couple of years but there is no doubting the direction we are now thankfully headed.

Boss Media were delighted to help out Yahoo UK, and were quoted as saying that they feel that online entertainment providers will drive future growth in the online gambling sector.

Can you say Google Poker? Or how about Myspace Poker?
